From the recording one bright engine

zero chapter: “Black Narcissus”. The conflagration rose and fell high above the prize. Its invaders and champions miles from the atmosphere, two hordes of unleashed killers, neither willing to mar the surface. Soon, someone would have it. From any near distance, the flashes and silent novae told no story. Disintegration, maybe, debris from combustion fueled by small pockets of oxygen, life then lifelessness. Up close, the struggle is mortal for some – ultimate and only. For others, this is the latest cluster of anonymous targets on the way to the next. A brief increase in friction on an unbroken path. There are more of the second, and they will prevail. Everyone knows that. Nothing changes. The dead won’t be counted, because the victor has no use for a tally. From greatest distance, the story is clear: something was built, then it was taken. Blue sky turned black beneath the shadow of Black Narcissus. Then resistance, the boundless urge of life to persist. And heroes die. Makes them heroes.

Lyrics

Black Narcissus

One lamplight
Moving across a hill dark otherwise
And regret is painted horizon wide
One bright engine, falling away
A gracious escape
Shot down and surprised by the ride
By the prettylittlethings that your killers say, and

All hail Black Narcissus
You'll never get out of this alive
The choice was yours before and now the sword is mine

Little breaks in the machinery
He feels doubt in his very blood
We are here amongst the debris
Trace the statement of intention to the start of the war, she says
Beguiling little figure cuts the dust on the floor, she is
A desperate, pale imagining of…

One firelight
For the burned alive or silenced otherwise
And regret is seen from a thousand miles
One bright engine, lost in the wave
No one escapes
And we are the unlocked inside
(A promise of) Revenge ever lies in wait

All hail Black Narcissus
You'll never get out of this alive
The choice was yours before and now the sword is mine

The screamer awakes
Calling to rise fights
The scale inside you
The earth as it shakes
Is cracking its spine
For the prettylittlethings as they melt away

Black Narcissus
